Finishing a manicure her nails painted a pearly pink she pushed open the door to exit the nail salon and make her way to the local park. Oddly enough as she was in Starbucks she had seen an interesting book, it was the biography of Etta James the famous jazz and blues singer and she had picked it up and hadn't been able to put it down since.
She carried the book under her arm as she changed the song on her iPod, both ear pieces in as she crossed the street and passed the sign that bared the name of the park. It was quite crowded, but there was always a surplus of benches there so she walked around in a circle once before spotting a clean empty bench as she sat down. Blowing on her nails for a few seconds she opened the book and placed the bookmark next to her as she used her finger to mark her place in the book.
It was so interesting to read about a strong and powerful woman and her battles against the music industry and her skin colour. Pausing to take a sip of her almost cold coffee she then set the cup back down next to her carefully as to not let it tip over before licking her thumb and index finger as she flipped through the pages.

Chance had enjoyed a pretty leisurely day, and when he meant leisurely it meant that he didn't have to work that day. He hadn't been needed for filming that day so he had been able to sleep in a little more than normal and then when he had gotten up he had decided to work out. His workout routine started with his excersises downstairs in the gym they had in the basement of the house and was now ending in him going for a run through the park.
The weather was nice and warm as usual for LA but there was a cool breeze that swept through every once and awhile that kept the day from being too hot. His ipod was strapped to his upper arm and he had already stretched earlier so he started to jog through the park. He was wearing his black running shoes, a pair of white shorts and had a t shirt on earlier but had left it in his car where he had parked in the park parking lot.
As he continued to jog through the park his headphones were in his ears as he ran and his light blue eyes gazed around at the people busily enjoying the nice weather. Suddenly his eyes landed on a beautiful blonde girl sitting on a bench alone, reading a book. As he came closer and was able to get a good look at her face he couldn't help but notice that she looked extremely familiar. His mind reeled as he tried to think of where he knew her from. How was it that he could forget this gorgeous girl's name and not know who she was or where he knew her from when she looked this familiar?
Finally as he came even closer he slowed his pace before finally stopping, a bit of sweat starting to bead on his muscular chest and abs. He took a few deep breaths before stepping towards her, preparing to speak.
"Hey there, sorry to bother you but. . . do I know you from somewhere. . .? You look extremely familiar. . ." he spoke, putting his hands on his hips for a moment before looking at her once more. His mind was still trying to figure out where he knew her from and yet all he could come up with was a blank. He hoped that she might recognize him and be able to fill in the blanks.

She was engulfed in the book as she was put into Etta's position as she saw Etta's point of view when she was performing on stage. Suddenly a shadow overcast her book and she looked up to see a shirtless guy there... awkward. Not bad looking though, definitely in shape.
She put her bookmark back inside the book and closed the book itself, placing it in her lap and smoothing over the cover before taking out her earphones from her ears. He asked her if he knew her from somewhere, nothing rang a bell when she looked at him. She tucked her long overgrown bangs behind her ear and spoke, "Charlotte Cook ring a bell?" She asked as she pursed her lips together, wondering why he was asking such a peculiar question. "Anaheim Hills ring a bell, I was born there?" This was odd as she tried to give him more information.

When she said her name that was what did it for him. He finally realized where he knew her from. When he was young he had gotten into acting and modeling and stuff but had quit doing it when he was finishing up middle school. He hadn't become real famous or anything yet so he had decided to focus on graduating high school and playing football. After he had graduated he realized that he didn't want to go pro with football and instead went back into acting and modeling. That was when he hit it big. He got amazing roles in high end movies and before he knew it he was an A list actor. And that was his life now and he was happy with it.
She had been in acting and he had met her when he was little. They had lived close to each other and been childhood friends. She had been his first kiss when they were in middle school and though he had moved away when they were still to young to actually date and have real crushes on each other there had definitely been feelings there. He hadn't thought he would ever see her again and yet here she was right in front of him. Man, she had changed a lot! He hadn't seen her since middle school and they had both done a lot of growing up.
"Charlotte Alice Cook, I thought I'd never see you again. Chance Caine, remember me? We were neighbors and met when we were both acting? Ringin' a bell?" he asked her, a smile on his face as he looked her over. She had definitely grown up from the little blonde haired blue eyed girl that use to chase him around and try to kiss him, saying she was going to give him girl cooties. Those were the days.

He had recognized her, and she had recognized him as well. It was just that one split second and they both knew who they were. He looked a lot different than he did when he was a kid but he he did still have that small boyish charm. "Yeah, of course I remember you. We used to be great friends. How have you been?" She asked, turning off her iPod and wrapping her headphones around it before putting her book back inside her purse.
It was nice to see someone that she knew, she only had a few friends here and another friendly face always warmed her inside in multiple ways. Seeing Chance was a breath of fresh air and she was really surprised that he had remembered her after all these years. Many memories of them were blurred, although many stayed intact inside Charlottes brain.

The smile on Chance's face was even broader than before when she recognized him as well. He clicked off his ipod and let his headphones hang around his neck before shifting his weight for a moment. His light blue eyes looked down at her as he took in how much she had changed yet still stayed the same.
"I'm surprised to see you in LA, did you move here?" he asked her, wondering how long she would be staying. If she was only going to be in town for a little bit then he wanted to be sure to get to hang out with her and catch up some before she had to leave.

"Yes actually I do live here now. I just made the move maybe about a week ago. I really like LA its a very friendly place with gorgeous weather, I mean... just look!" She said, pointing to the sun and the clear blue sky. "I'm still the quirky me, a bigger book worm than ever, call me a nerd. Actually, I work at the Barnes and Noble down the road." She laughed, light heartedly as she pointed her finger in the direction of the store.
"And what about you, what do you do for a living?" She asked as she revisited the memories of her and Chance as little children. In acting school he was always 'Mr. Hottie' and all the girls his age and older swooned over him while Charlotte could be found in the back corner reading yet another book. She never was truly interested in him when she was younger. He was her neighbor and she only knew him as the raucous and noisy, boy next door who rolled in mud and played football everyday. She never thought in a million years that she would kiss him. But she did. It was over 10 years ago but the long and awkward kiss seemed like it was yesterday.

It seemed like not that long ago that they had been neighbors and young. He remembered how when they were really young she always thought he was a stupid boy and he thought she was a stupid girl and then as they got older they became inseperable, telling each other everything and doing everything together. They had even had their first kiss with one another. It had been in the big treehouse in his back yard that they had made their clubhouse and played in a lot.
"That's awesome, it's great to see you again. Hopefully I will see you again real soon." he replied as he put one of his headphones back into his ear. He figured she probably wanted to get back to reading her book and he had to get home and take a shower. He prepared to leave but stopped himself and turned back to face her once more.
"Hey would you wanna come over to my place tonight and have dinner and just catch up?" he asked her, a smile raising one side of his face as he waited hopefully for her answer.

"Yes, it was really nice to see you too." Charlotte smiled as she waved good bye and pulled back her book before Chance caught her attention again, as she closed her book and directed her gaze at him.
"Dinner? Yeah, that would be great? Uhm... do you have my number?" She asked as she pulled out her phone, ready to give him hers or to receive his. It was really such a coincidence that the two had clicked so fast and even the fact that they had met it one of the most randomest places ever.

Chance didn't have her number but he also didn't have his phone to put her number into just yet either so instead he gave her his number and she put it into her phone. A smile crossed his face as he watched her finish messing with her phone.
"Great, I'll see you around seven tonight then? Do you want me to come pick you up or give you directions to my house?" he asked her, raising his eyebrows playfully as he waited for her to reply. Either way worked for him, he was just glad to be getting to see her again.

He inserted his telephone number in her cellphone as she tucked it away in the designated compartment in her purse. He then asked her if she wanted a ride or if she wanted to drive herself. "Would you mind coming to get me? I'll text you my address when you get home?" She then stood up and slung her bag over her shoulder. "It was nice to see you Chance, talk to you later." She waved as she walked in the other direction he was going to head back to her small house.
