In the dim lit poetry club, Charlotte sat in the back of the room in a booth intently listening to the poet up on stage. Sitting slouched, her elbows on the table and her head resting on the palm of her hand she made sense of the lyrics being spoken. She had only been here for about fifteen minutes or so but she already felt as if she had been there for centuries.
The student waitress brought her; her ordered cup of green tea as Charlotte wrapped her hands around the mug before raising the brown mug to her neutral tinted lips before letting the tea slowly run down her throat, warming her entire body. Near after, the waitress brought her; her chocolate biscotti which she crumbled into small pieces before placing them in her mouth.
Fascinated by the poet and their speech about nature she clapped as the poet left the stage to be replaced with an up and coming musician and his band who was well known at the poetry cafe. As they began the bridge of their popular song she dusted off her hands and reached into her purse, pulling out her iPad before clicking the book store app as she continued to read yet another sonnet that was written by William Shakespeare, she flicked across the screen as the book turned the page sending her to another completely different sonnet.

Jack made his way into the poetry club, he smiled at the host and told her he was meeting someone, a blonde girl named Charlotte. She told him to follow her, and brought him to the back of the room. Jack messed with his brown short brown hair and looked down at what he was wearing. It wasn't to shaggy, but the black tie made a difference. A simple gray shirt and black vest. He had on plain black pants, and his favorite pair of plain black converse.
As he approached the table, he looked at Charlotte. "Hello, gorgeous." he smiled at her and leaned down, kidding her cheek. He sat opposite of her in the booth and looked at the menu. He then looked at the waitress, "Can I get a iced tea please?" he smiled and handed her the menu, bringing his attention back to Charlotte. "How are you?" she looked stunning tonight, as always. This seemed like the perfect place to get together, it was low key and calm.

As she was on the eleventh line of the third sonnet, she felt a presence near her and she looked up to find Jack. She smiled as she turned off her iPad and put it back in her purse as he leaned down and kissed her on the cheek. "Hey Jack." She said as she brushed off the crumbs on the table from her biscotti.
She took another sip of her herbal tea and she looked up at Jack. "Great thanks, just relaxing and clearing my mind, how are you?" She asked as she looked up at the stage, the band closing up their instrument cases before waving and wandering off as the lights dimmed and a new poet appeared on the stool."Thanks for coming to meet me here." She smiled as she tucked a piece of long blonde curly hair behind her ear.

Jacks drink arrived as he looked at Charlotte and smiled "Good, that's great. I'm fine, just enjoying L.A." he took a sip of his tea and then looked at her again "Anytime, I love being around you." he smiled. Charlotte was so attractive, of course in Jack's eyes no girl was ugly, they were beautiful in their own way. But she was just all around pretty.
He looked at his phone, checking up on GG and then looked back at Charlotte. "Any specific reason you wanted me here?" he asked smiling. Girls usually came to him when they needed advice, he was very loyal and always offered good advice to anyone.

"I'm glad that you are starting to like LA?" Charlotte said as she moved in her seat. His comment about liking to be with her caused her to slightly blush. "I like being with you too."She admitted as she flashed him a smile and drummed her hands on the table.
Charlotte had asked Jackson to come because he was her support system and she wanted to talk to him. "Yeah, I just have this thing..." She rummaged around in her purse and pulled out an accordion folder and went to the tab that had her poetry. "Here, it's not finished yet but I want you to read it because I want to submit it in a contest and I want your opinion." As she handed him the paper and tied the folder back up and put it on the table in front of her.
Flagging down the waitress she asked for another mug of tea this time with some honey before directing her attention back to Jackson as she watched his eyes wander from stanza to stanza on her poetry.

Jack smiled as she spoke, "Yeah, I love it." He chuckled a bit as she said she liked being with her too. He grabbed the paper and began reading the beautiful poem she had wrote. When he finished, he set the paper down on the table and smiled, looking at her. "That was wonderful, really. You'd have a great chance of winning. No doubt about it. I loved the third stanza, it was beautiful." Jack never was one for poetry, but he knew a lot about it from school. He looked at her, "When's the contest start?" he asked, smiling at her.

He set down the paper as her second cup of tea arrived. "Thanks, and Im about to actually go up there and recite it." She smiled as she excused herself and took the paper from the table.
Up on stage, she awkwardly adjusted her weight on the wooden stool, the spotlight shining down on her face really brightly. She shaded her eyes with a laugh. 'Woah, that is bright. Well hey guys Im Charlotte and this is a poem I wrote, it's really short but I think it really shows diversity." She cleared her throat as she sat the paper in her lap incase she forgot a stanza.
"The music turned loud, Red plastic cups of beer, High on life, High on fear.
Concerts and alchohol, Hanging out and skating, Music and friends, Love and dating.
Blowing off homework, And going to the mall, Sex and drugs, Talking during study hall.
That's the vision you get, When the word is said, But we're not all the same, So get it outta your head.
We don't all party, We're not all into drugs, We're not all dirty thieves, We're not no good thugs.
Some of us are, But that's all I'll say, We like to have fun, We like it our way."

"Good luck!" Jack called to her as she walked up on stage, he watched her intently as she read her poem. When she was finished, he stood up, clapping and cheering with the rest of the crowd. As she made her way back, he hugged her. "I told you it was good!" he said happily, sitting down again. He took a sip of his tea and then looked at her "You've really got a knack for writing poems." he smiled at her "Got any other hidden talents?" he asked raising an eyebrow as he spoke.

"Thank you, have a good evening." She thanked as she hopped off the stage to be greeted with a hug from Jack. "Thanks, I should definitely listen to you more often." She joked as she sat back down. His comment about her having any more hidden talents. "Im a really good dancer and when I was younger I did modeling and acting and I was... quite good at it. But that is it." She smiled.
Her phone buzzed and she answered the call. "Hey, yeah sure thing, I can get you some take out. Where do you want me to stop at? Thai food? Okay sure no problem. Mhm, any time. Love you, bye." And she hung up the phone.

Jack nodded at Charlotte, "Why didn't you stick with modeling and dancing? I could see you being a great dancer, and very photogenic." he sipped on his tea as the conversation was interrupted with a phone call, he was curious to know who she was talking to, seeing as to how she ended the call with an 'I love you'. He didn't want to seem too nosy, but he decided to ask anyways "Who was that?" he asked ruffling up his brown hair a bit. His tone was calm, as it usually was and he looked at her, with a half smile on his face.
