It was a gorgeous sunny day and Paige did not want to waste it being stuck inside her apartment so she was at the park instead. Even though she wasn't very athletic, or coordinated for that matter, she still loved the feeling of going for a run. She went over to a bench and sat down, starting to stretch a little before she got started.
Once she was finished she got back up, putting her iPod on to her favorite song and set off. It didn't take long for her breathing to become shallower then before. She ignored the pain and pushed through it, focusing on the rhythm of her feet. A few songs later, she finally decided she was done for the day even though it had been hardly anything. "I'm so out of shape," she grumbled to herself. She walked for a little while longer to cool down and then sat back down on another bench to relax. Gazing around at her surroundings, she smiled a little to herself, her breathing returning to normal.
The normal feeling came back into the rest of her body and she suddenly wished she was running again but that would have to be saved for another day. She rested her elbows on her knees and closed her eyes basking in the beautiful day.

Chance was going for his morning run as well. He had made it all the way from the boardwalk and was now on his way through the park when he caught sight of a pretty blonde girl sitting on a bench not far off. She looked a bit familiar but he couldn't remember where he knew her from. As he got closer he was finally able to come up with a name and as he was about ready to pass her he stopped and jogged backwards so he was standing in front of her again.
"Paige Walker, that can't be you. It's me, Chance Caine." he said, hoping that she would be able to remember where they knew each other from. He knew that he knew who she was but he couldn't remember where from. He stopped jogging and put his hands on his hips as he let his breathing slow down a bit. Taking his t shirt that was tucked into the hem of his shorts he wiped the sweat from his brow before putting it back in his shorts and looking at her with his light blue eyes.

Paige heard footsteps approaching and go by but didn’t really pay attention, after all it was the park. It wasn’t until they stopped and came back towards her that she gazed up at the man standing in front of her. She immediately recognized his face because she could remember faces rather well; names on the other hand were a different story. It was a relief to her when he said his name was Chance and she quickly remembered the brief time that they had met. It hadn’t been her most poised moment. She had been walking down the street after going food shopping when she finished work. Instead of watching where she was going, she was reading the synopsis on the back of a book she had just bought. Always the bookworm, as her dad would say. When she finally did look up, it was too late and she had already run into someone. Her groceries dropped and went everywhere. After apologizing quite a bit, Paige began picking up her things and the man had helped her. He introduced himself as Change Caine and Paige told him her name as well. They talked for a few minutes before parting ways, with one more apology from Paige. ”Hey, it’s been awhile since my wonderful display of attentiveness,” she said sarcastically with a grin. She found that it made life so much easier if you were able to laugh at yourself. She couldn’t be perfect all the time and she didn’t try to be. Paige could be a total klutz at times but she didn’t mind it if they were close to her. It would make other people laugh even if it was at her expense.

Chance laughed as he remembered there run in when they had met just the other day. He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced down at the ground before raising his light blue eyes to look at her once more, a smile raising one side of his mouth before he spoke.
"Yeah I know, I've missed being ran into." he teased her, all in good fun though. He hoped that she knew he was just kidding though they didn't know each other that well so it made things a bit awkward when you weren't to sure how a person could react to your words.
"How have you been?" he asked, taking a couple steps towards her so he was standing in front of her. He gazed down at her with a smile on his face but didn't sit down on the bench since he was sweaty and she probably didn't want him that close to her when he had sweat running down his toned body.

Paige chuckled a little at what he said. ”I’m just so good at it,” she smiled. She could tell that he was just kidding around with her and wasn’t actually trying to insult her. She wasn’t the type of person that would get offended easily and could tell when someone was just trying to have some fun. It was easier for Paige to joke around more than have a normal conversation because it seemed to give her more confidence. After joking for a little while though, she would be fine.
”I’ve been alright. Not too much going on in my life besides work and the beach. Pretty much the usual,” she told him with a shrug. ”How about you? What’s new?” she asked, returning the question. For once, she hadn’t already ruined a conversation by making it awkward.
Paige looked up at him and suddenly felt bad that she hadn’t asked him to sit. Manners had been instilled in her from an early age but it seemed like she always forgot one or two. ”There’s plenty of room here if you want to sit,” she offered, feeling a little bad. He had obviously just been running like her and had to be somewhat tired yet she couldn’t help but notice how muscular he was. She suddnely brought her eyes back up to his, hoping that he didn’t notice.

Chance nodded in agreement when she said she was just so good at running into people. When she explained what she was up to he smiled and sat down beside her on the bench when she offered the seat to him. His light blue eyes stared off at the ground as he concentrated on what she was saying before he looked up at her when it was his turn to talk.
"Oh ya know, the usual. I'm having a party this weekend though, you should come by." He replied, sitting up straight and stretching his arm out on the back of the bench behind her back. A smile was on his face as he looked at her, wondering if she would accept or reject his invitation.

As he sat down on the bench, Paige relaxed a little bit not even realizing that she had been tense. She looked at him as he invited her to his party. She quickly debated in her head for a few seconds whether or not she should go. It wasn’t quite her normal place to be but there were always chances for her to change it up. A little visit wouldn’t hurt anyone.
”Yeah, maybe I’ll stop,” she answered, not quite a definite answer but one that left her open to not going if she chickened out. She realized though that she didn’t actually know where he lived. ”Where exactly might by be though?” she asked him with a smile. It could be fun, she kept telling herself and it was better then spending the night alone in her apartment doing crossword puzzles. There was nothing wrong with that to Paige but she knew how little people actually understood about her.

Chance pulled out his phone and asked for her number. When she had put it in his phone he smiled and sent her a text message with his address so that she would have his number and his address.
"There ya go. I'll be lookin' for ya." he replied as he put his phone back in his pocket and winked at her. Chance rose to his feet and stretched out a bit since he still had a little bit of his run left to complete.

As Chance asked her for her number, she took his phone and typed it in. She handed it back to him with a smile. ”I’ll see you then,” she smiled, getting up as well. After resting for a bit, she was ready to get back to her car. It wasn’t much of a run for the day but she didn’t really care. She started walking away before turning back around. ”Nice seeing you again.” She spun back around and headed in the direction that she had come from. At least this time she hadn’t made a fool of herself quite as badly as the first time.
