YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Running late was definitely not how Noelle worked. Efficient and organized she always made sure her Blackberry buzzed in fore worn of an event coming up. In this case her phone buzzed yesterday evening as se rushed to go then pick up her yellow sun dress from the local cleaners as the pleats were being pressed in a clean manner.
Strutting down the crowded streets of L.A. she managed to gain some time through walking through the park as she passed the Poodles and Golden Retrievers. Looking before crossing the street she passed by a few window boutiques that were all showcasing gorgeous clothing or jewelry as she came across this hand made tunic that a woman had made in Africa. I'm going to have it one day... She kept thinking as she came up to the familiar resturant; a home to many.
The Elephant Bar was known to be classy but also it was modern and cocktail gowns weren't expected to be worn, dresses actually weren't apart of the usual dress code but Noelle couldn't resist the urge to wear her favorite articles of clothing on a night as such! Tonight she was meeting with Lily so they could catch up on each other and Noelle could provide more helpful tips.
The hostess approached her graciously as she asked with whom she was going to be seated with. "I made a reservation at 7:45 under the last name McShay" Finding it with ease she led Noelle to a two seated table placing out both menus to be able to choose from.

noelle jane mcshay had been a good friend of lily for a long while. i guess you could even say that they were besties. lily knew that whenever she needed someone to talk to, noelle would be there for her, to help her, and understand her. noelle was one of lily's few friends that she could tell about the things that had been going on lately. she also had kyle, who would sprint to her if she ever needed help, but she was afraid to tell him. so when noelle asked lily to come with her to the elephant bar she couldn't deny it.
when getting ready lily knew that noelle would be wearing something fancy, so she tried to pull something together that wasn't a plain t shirt and shorts like she had been wearing lately for comfort. she chose a white blouse, which she tied in the front and tucked into a high waisted floral skirt. which she paired with neutral colored sandals, a small clutch, and some simple jewelry. her hair was styled in loose waves, which were yesterday's curls that had fallen.
lily frantically got into her car and drove off to the restaurant where noelle had made reservations for. lily used to be a little bit of a reckless driver, but after her parents death, she made sure she took extra care in her driving..even if it made her a little bit late. but hey, better late than never. lily arrived at the restaurant and parked her car in a parking spot. she proceeded to walk into the restaurant. she saw noelle sitting at a table and made her way over to it. "noelle! how are you?" she said as she sat down in the chair across from noelle with a smile on her face.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP As Lily approached their table, Noelle set her clutch on the wooden table as she rose from the cushioned chairs to embrace her in a hug and a peck on the cheek. "I am fine honey, how about yourself?" She asked. It was no surprise to Noelle that Lilys parents had passed away, it was all over the news. Although when Noelle tried to get in touch with Lily the line was disconnected or she gave the feeling she had disappeared off the face of the Earth.
Sitting down once more she opened up her menu and turned to the last page to take a gander at the drink selection they had. Waitress upon them she asked Noelle for her selection of refreshment. It was hard to decide but Noelle finally made up her mind. "Glass of Malbec, red." Referring back to the front for starters. "Also I would like some shrimp coctails thank you."
As the waitress dissapeared, Noelle was ecstatic to hear about Lilys upcomings and how she was doing overall. They had a stroganoff connection and she dindnt want a silly landline to ruin the bond that had been created over years at a a time. "So how are you Lily-pad?" She teased.

lily scrunched her nose up when noelle hugged her. she probably felt how skinny lily was, and that made her uncomfortable already. she knew this would be an interesting time. "that is great. i haven't seen you in such a long time! how are things with you and austin?" she asked. lily looked down at the menu in front of her. food was the last thing she wanted to think about, considering she was diagnosed as bulimic a couple days ago.
she watched as noelle ordered a drink, and then the waitress asked what she wanted. lily just asked for a water. she didn't want anything extravagant since she would just be purging it eventually. lily rested her chin on her hand as she looked down at the menu at the starters. "uuum, i'll just share with her. thank you though."
lily smiled when noelle called her lily-pad. it was a nickname noelle had gave her a long time ago around the time when they first met. "lily-pad? i haven't heard you call me that in a long time." she said following a small laugh. "i've been okay. not great, not overly depressed. i just have a lot of things on my mind..you know"

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP It made Noelle happy that she could be here with Lily and just talk about 'girl stuff' and the things they really needed to get off their chest. Lily kindly asked about Austin and Noelle immediately lit up. "Just fine, it was hard to know if this relationship was going to work in the beginning because we were crazy for each other, but were both really happy with each other." The wine and water arriving shortly after.
She looks a little disoriented Pondering if everything was alright with her. Lily just seemed... Numb at the moment. She wasn't there and someone was flying for her or she was on autopilot. "Not too depressed? So then what are these 'things' on your mind?" She asked her sternly as she leaned forward her elbow on the table holding her head.
Noelle was good with therapy and she was really curious to understand what was going on in Lilys mind because she just seemed a bit off and unbalanced and she just wanted to know what was causing all of that.

lily listened as noelle explained how things were going with her and austin. austin and noelle had a perfect relationship. the kind of relationship that lily had always wanted, but never got. she had a crush on her best guy friend kyle since they met, but they had never moved out of the friend phase, and anyone could tell that they liked each other. "aw noelle. i am so happy for you guys! you are the cutest couple in all of la." she said as the waitress set her water in front of her. lily looked at it like it was a foreign object. it had a lemon on the top, which she took off since she never liked lemons anyway.
lily took the white wrapper off of her straw and stuck it into her water. she started stirring her water with the straw, just to occupy herself. she was very fidgety, and just needed something to do with her hands. lily took a deep breath and looked around the restaurant. there wasn't a lot of people there, and the table she and noelle were sitting at was kind of secluded from the other tables. "well..you're going to be the first person i have told about this..i saw kyle yesterday but he freaked out on me and i just left."
lily was cut off by the waitress who came over to ask what they had wanted to eat. lily glanced down at the menu once again for something small and chose a caesar salad. the waitress then asked what noelle wanted, and after she answered the waitress left to go tell the chef what they ordered. "this is going to be really hard for me to say..i don't want you to freak out or anything..or yell at me like kyle did when i lied about it..are you sure you want to hear this?" she asked before taking a very small sip of the water that was in front of her.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Austin was always a subject Noelle was comfortable talking about, especially with someone such as Lily. "Thanks, but I really thought we weren't going to end up together, excuse me." As the waitress asked her what she would like to order. Taking a quick scan at the menu, Noelle wanted something light and healthy. "Lime and lemon salmon please." Handing the menu back to the waitress.
Lily looked a little anxious and the next string of words that came out of her mouth; worried Noelle. "Sweetie, boys can be just as hormonal as girls, plus all boys get really defensive over people they truly love. But tell me what's going on, I'm here for you."
Swirling her wine glass with her hand she tipped the glass as the red wine poured into her mouth and down her throat. It was very crisp and fresh as if it had just come out of the vineyard. Although, they probably had a controlled temperature wine storage in the back room.

"i knew you guys would be together in the end. i'm psychic. i can see the future like raven..kidding but i did know you guys would end up together." she said before the waitress cut off the conversation. "you guys are just meant to be, you know?" she smiled. lily took another small sip of her water before stirring it with the straw, though there was no point to that.
lily became a little shocked when noelle mentioned something about how boys get defensive over people they truly love. "wait, defensive over people they truly love? are you saying that kyle loves me or something?" lily was confused, for a second, until she had to tell noelle the truth about what was going on.
lily sat up in her seat and took a breath. "well..this is hard to say. but basically three things have been going on with me. one, being that i was diagnosed with bulimia about a week ago, two being i have been self-harming myself..in the form of cutting..." lily began to tear up a little. but she wiped the edges of her eyes with the side of her index finger. "i have also been having suicidal thoughts..but just thoughts. i haven't tried anything..." she confessed. lily felt a lot better letting that out to someone, though she knew it would be a struggle letting out the same thing to kyle.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Kyle was a good friend of Lily's and whenever Noelle was around the two, it was sparks flying; a personal firework show as you relaxed along the bay... Perfect. Neither admitted their feelings for one another and Noelle couldn't blame them. They were both odd in their way or wanting to commit to a serious relationship, neither really ready for that big step. Noelle leaned into the table to talk to Lily. "I don't lie Lily, Christian girl to the heart but... He really does love you." She thought how she should phrase the next part as she didn't want it to come out wrong. She meant it to be completely friendly and she hoped Lily would know her last intention was to upset her. "I just think he's afraid, a lot of men are afraid." Remembering Austin and his strong fear of committing to someone for a long time.
The next words that came out were a stomach-churner but she had known for awhile; or at least had been getting this uneasy vibe from her as soon as she sat down. Her body language was rigid and her motor skills were weak and shaky. The food, made her face scrunch up in disgust; all signs. She reached for her hand, "Let me tell you something right now... Don't be mad at me because you know I love you very much and I want what is best for you..." Seemingly the atmosphere became extremely quiet and Noelle waited for the awkward silence to pass.
"What would your parents say to this? To know their daughter is throwing away all her potential because she just went down the wrong path?" She used her other hand to remove some bracelets to reveal old and fresh wounds. Pursing her lips she shook her head, "This darling is not beautiful. You darling may appear beautiful but on the inside you are ugly. You are being eaten by something much stronger than you... Anger." it was so hard to be honest and spare feelings. "Beauty is pain, but blood isn't beauty."

lily felt a smile creeping its way onto her face. it was nice hearing from someone else that kyle loved her. she remembered before her parents died that they would always joke about her and kyle and say they were meant to be or something. lily had never really took that seriously. she would just laugh along with the jokes, but inside she felt different. she really did have feelings for kyle, she was just afraid. "oh. well i don't know what to do then. obviously we are both scared, and with me having all these problems..i don't know if we would ever work out." she explained.
lily looked down at the table for a minute while listening to noelle. what she was saying was making lily a bit emotional, but what she was saying was true. "noelle, i just don't know what to do anymore..". she said, feeling tears form in her eyes. "i'm hurting myself..and everyone around me. kyle even said it. i don't want to be like that. i want to be normal again. but it's so hard..i can't just snap my fingers and go back to the way it was. when my parents were alive and i was okay." she replied. lily looked down at the table again and felt a tear fall down her cheek, which she quickly wiped off with her index finger.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYESif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Lily had began to tear up and she knew she had hit the perfect spot and had made her slightly emotional. Her approach to Kyle and her relationship was really negative. "It can work Lily, you just have to be willing to put in the effort equally into the relationship and to also go ahead and make a big change to better yourself. He knows you're hurting yourself and like most boys, dont think this very attractive." She cleared her throat, preparing to share a story with her.
"How am I? I am a strong soul who believes in everything she feels she needs to and has a massive amount of faith. My dad? Screams and curses and puts me down and he just has his only love... football. My mother? Has had more knives touch her face than Joan Rivers, and she finds fancy in hitting on Austin... shes a cougar." Laughing at her embarassing experiences. "Prude as hell, getting feelings for this massive player and then getting dumped and then going ahead to just mope around and then meeting him again months later and now... Im happy. But I NEVER stopped looking for him." She exhaled deeply, "I never stopped praying that he would find me." She added with a small smile.
"The road to getting better is not going to be easy, Im going to tell you that, but you already know that. But I am going to be here for you a million percent of the way." It was true, she was going to stick by her no matter what "Promise."
