Chance had decided to spend his morning at the gym. He had ran on the treadmill for awhile, pumped some iron and was cooling off with a few laps around the pool. As he climbed out he wrapped his towel around him, briefly drying off before heading into the locker room. He hoped in the shower to rinse off and then got dressed again before heading out of the gym.
He was now on his way to get something to eat and spotted one of his favorite food joints so he ordered a chicken sandwich and took it to go. He wanted to get home because he was going to be throwing a party this weekend and had to get a dj and all that shit that didn't take care of itself. He ate his sandwich as he walked and threw his trash away when he was done. His car was parked at his house because he had decided it would be better for him to walk but now that he had spent the whole morning working out walking wasn't really what he was hoping to do more of now.

Abby was wondering around the park, strolling the streets, doing anything to try to get influence for her next book. So far she had a horrid plot, and her mind was out of ideas. She had been sitting in her hammock on her porch all morning, smelling the aroma or the salty air around her, trying to come up with a plot. Since that didn’t work she had decided to come to the park to see if she could even build a character and the novel start from there.
She held a notebook in one hand and her trusty pencil in the other, waiting for an idea to flow through her body, to the tips of her fingers, and magically end up on a piece of paper. Abigail decided it would have been a better decision to sit and write, but she needed to stretch her legs, and she could jot down more notes on the scenery when walking around.
The air was a bit humid and the perfect weather for denim shorts, which Abby was currently wearing. She had a crisp collard pink Ralph Lauren shirt tucked in, paired with tortoise shell sunglass which shielded her eyes from the rays of the sun. On her feet were converse-styled Coach shoes; decorated with “C’s” all around it. Her golden, dirty blonde hair was tied back in the low ponytail, just waiting to be set free.
Finally she had decided to take a break from jotting down notes and such, and placed it back in her tan leather hobo bag. When she looked back up she saw a familiar man in the distance; Chance. Abby began to pick up her pace as she trotted to him. ”Hey!” she called behind him, semi-loudly to get his attention.

Chance had his hands in the pockets of his denim jeans he was wearing paired with a plain white button up shirt that only had two or three buttons actually secured. The weather was humid today and the sun had gotten hotter than he had originially anticipated, otherwise he wouldn't have been wearing jeans today. He considered taking his shirt off to cool down but he wasn't quite that hot yet so he would deal with it for a little longer. When he heard someone yelling hey he wasn't sure if they were talking to him or not but the voice sounded familiar so he turned around to see Abigail coming towards him.
He smiled when he saw her and stopped walking as he waited for her to make it to him. She was one of his best friends and she was also one of his only female friends that he hadn't slept with. She was the only girl so far that could resist him and he found her as a challenge though he never seemed to get very far with her. He wasn't gonna give up though. He tilted his head as he checked her out as she was approaching him. She still looked better than ever and his smile got a little wider as she straightened up once more as she reached him.
"Well look who it is, Abigail Lane. I'm surprised such a big time author like yourself has time to associate with us little people." he teased her, leaning back a bit before standing upright once more.
"Congrats on the book deal." he added with another smile.

Abby was thankful when Chance generously stopped so that she could catch up. She slowed her pace down, as she didn’t need to jog to catch up, but her gait was still fast enough so he didn’t have to wait in the same place forever. Step by step she finally caught up to him, and gave him a friendly hug, as they were only friends, neither nothing more nor less. She then broke away and looked at him as she stood beside him, placing her hands in her back pockets of her shorts. Chance had tried to sleep with her, but she always politely turned him down, as she wasn’t like that. Chance seemed to sleep with hundreds of women, but she would not add to that count. It looked like he had been working out, since he was a little sweating when she hugged him, but it could have been the heat the was starting to grow, thanks to the humidity and the sun.
”Hello to you Chance,” she greeted with a broad smile. Abigail playfully shoved him as he said that she didn’t have time for him or anyone else. ”More the other way. You’re a famous actor mister, may I point that out. I mean, I’ve been hiding out in my den, but the question is: where have you been?” she asked with a playful smile. She hadn’t seen Chance in a while, and it was nice to run into him at the park.
”Thanks that means a lot. I know someone who can get you a free book,” she smiled, digging into her bag to pull out a copy of her book. She always carried one around just in case she ran into someone at a time like this. Normally she would give it to a fan she ran into on the street who said that they wanted to read the book but they didn’t have a chance yet. At that point she could sign the book and give it to them. ”So how’s the movie business? Sleeping with your co-stars?” she giggled.

He laughed as he listened to her response to his joke, giving him a playful shove. He hugged her back when she hugged him and then looked her over once more. When she asked him where he had been he just shrugged before shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
"I've been around, not real busy right now cause I'm not filming at the moment but I do have a new movie coming up but it is still in casting." he replied as he closed an eye so he could look at her against the sun.
When she said she could get him a free book he smiled and she handed him a copy of the book she had wrote. He wasn't much of a reader but sometimes when he got bored enough he would read something though most of the time it was more along the lines of Sports Illustrated or something like that. He took the book and looked at the cover before flipping it over to look at the author info on the back and then glanced back up at her face.
"You gonna sign it for me?" he asked her, tilting his head and raising his eyebrows with a grin. He handed her back the book so she could sign it before putting his hands in his pockets and laughing mockingly as she asked him if he was sleeping with any of his co stars.
"No, as a matter of fact I'm not. And for your information I have been good lately. Haven't been with any girls in. . . awhile." he replied, trying to think back to the last girl he had been with but was unable to remember because it had been so long ago. Damn, what was up with that? He might have to try and do something about that.
"What about you? Got any crazy plans for tonight?" he asked her, a smile on his face as he tilted his head a bit.

Abigail nodded when he said that he wasn’t up to anything because he wasn’t filming or doing anything really at the moment. ”I’m sure you’ll be in it,” she reassured, since she had seen his movies and they were really good; he actually had talent unlike some actors and actresses.
She watched as he took the book from her and scanned the first few pages. She knew he didn’t read all that much, and it was sort of girly, but he could just add it to a book shelf to like he read a lot, or even just re-sell it, though it was going to be personalized.
”Of course I’ll sign it,” she smiled, taking the book back from him. Abby tucked in underneath her armpit as she slid her purse off her other shoulder and reached around for a pen in the side pocket. She didn’t even bother looking in her purse, as her hand acted as eyes. After a couple seconds of searching she found a black ballpoint pen. She reached her hand up to sun to slide her purse back on her shoulder. Abby then grabbed the book that was under hand arm and opened it to the first page where there was plenty of room to write a caring message. She tried to write in her best cursive, but it was hard to do when he hand was the table. It ended looking like cursive chicken scratch that read:
Dearest friend Chance,
I’m happy I ran into you in this crazy town we call L.A. Please, please, don’t sleep with anyone, unless it is a girlfriend you plan to marry. Also, sleeping around is the easiest way to get STDs, just remember that. Also, condoms are only around eighty percent protective.
XOXO, your dear friend and the only one you haven’t slept with, Abigail J. Lane
Abby was pleased with her message as she giggled and handed it back to him for him to read.
A brow raised on Abigail’s face when Chance informed her that he hadn’t been sleeping around. That certainly did not sound like the Chance she knew; the man she knew would sleep with almost anybody who he and his friends considered hot. ”Really? Well, that’s good, maybe not for you, but it’s music to my ears. Maybe you’re cured,” she said, proud that maybe she had influenced it.
”No, I have zero plans. What about you?” Abigail asked, thinking about what she could do tonight. Watch T.V. with her dogs, swim in the ocean, or write.

When she handed him the book back he read the short passage she had written for him on the inside cover before laughing a bit and closing it, tucking it under his arm so he could take it home. He was actually considering reading this book because he knew the author and because she was one of his best friends.
"It's good for me too. Though I have to say I do miss the female company." he replied, putting a sad and lonely look on his face for a moment before smiling once again. He hadn't been causing much trouble lately and had just been relaxing which was always good to do every now and then. His party this weekend would add a little spark to his life cause it was just going to be a smallish get together with his closest friends.
"Well, since you don't have any plans and neither do I, would you be interested in coming over to my place to watch movies and have some ice cream or somethin'?" he asked, tilting his head a bit as he put on his hopeful look like a little kid who was about to be handed a piece of chocolate.

Abby was glad when Chance liked the short little message she wrote just for him, as it wouldn’t make sense if she wrote it for anyone else besides him. She hoped that he would give her book a chance, but she never knew, he would probably read Rolling Stone instead to read up on gossip.
”Oh, how sad,” she said, giving him a fake pity look. Abigail hopped he would keep up with him clean act, thus, it was too good to be true in the long run. She sighed as she though this to herself as she gazed at the playground in a patch on grass near the center of the park. This was like her own little Central Park that she grew up loving, since she had lived in New York for most of her life. It was just that this park wasn’t crisp or covered with a blanket of snow during the winter months, or had a zoo for a matter of fact. It was just a peaceful place to relax, read the newspaper, and write.
”I would actually love that. Do you need me to bring anything over like the ice cream toppings?” she asked, but then regretted it as she wasn’t sure if she had any cherries or a full can of whip cream at her house. She could always make a stop at the grocery store on her way home though. Now she had something to look forward to instead of watching T.V with her dogs.

Chance laughed when she put on the fake pity look and glanced down at the ground before looking back up at her again, a smile on his face.
"Fair enough. And nah I've got it covered, just come over at nine." he answered as he took the book in his hand instead of putting it under his arm.
He had to admit that he was rather excited that she had agreed to hang out with him. There was something about this girl that made him really want to be a better person. And when she was around he really did try to be a better person but when she wasn't around he had a bad habit of forgetting and slipped right back into his old habits. That's why he needed her around and he needed her in the very least to be his best friend.

Abigail was relieved when she didn’t have to bring anything besides herself to Chance’s house. She had been to Chance’s house for parties and swimming before, as they just hung out. The only thing now was that she heard that his sister now lived with him, so hopefully she wouldn’t mind extra company for an hour or two.
”Nine? Isn’t that a little late for two friends? Abby asked, emphasizing on the friends. Chance had tried to make a move on her in the past, but she always resisted and shunned him for it, telling him that friends, none the less best friends, did not hit on each other. She needed to get that thoroughly through his head.
Abby slid her tan leather bag off and dug through it, trying to find a packet of Orbit peppermint gum. Her bag was a mess, and rather unorganized, so it was impossible to find anything. She was still surprised that she had found a pen early when she signed her book for Chance. It turned out that her gum packet was at the bottom on her bag. She pulled it out and undid the wrapper before placing it in her mouth as she began to chew it succinctly. ”Want a piece?” she offered to Chance.

Chance glanced away, a smile on her face as she commented on the time being rather late. He had made it late on purpose and of course she had caught it and called him out on it. He turned back to face her, his light blue eyes shining and a smile still on his face as he looked at her expression before replying.
"Oh come on, my house is huge and has at least six spare bedrooms. If it gets late you can just stay in one of those. No big deal." he answered, tilting his head a bit to see what her reaction would be.
He wasn't sure what it was but she seemed completely immune to him. He could try and charm her, hit on her, flirt with her, even just be blunt with her but none of them worked and he wasn't quite sure why. She was a puzzle he couldn't solve and he never backed down from a challenge. He took the piece of gum she offered him before waiting to see what she would say, hoping she wouldn't back out now.

Abby crossed her arms over her chest, smashing her breasts a little. She listened to his plead of how she could just stay in a spare bedroom if it got too late. It wouldn’t look good for either of their images if the paparazzi snapped a few pictures of her leaving early in the morning with her hair un-brushed and her makeup smudged.
She gripped the gum packet more tightly as he reached for a piece, as it normally fell out of her hand because the other person tugged too hard when getting a piece of gum, since it was stuck in there. Abigail then dropped it back in her bag and placed it back on her shoulder where it belonged. She wasn’t sure what she should do, but she already said yes to coming, and she would end up having fun if she went. Also, it would be rude to say no now after already responding yes.
”All right, but you only have five spare bedrooms because I heard you have a sister living with you,” she said with a straight face. Deep down she probably had a crush on Chance, but she would never let him see past her poker face. Besides, he would end up playing her like a fiddle and then leave her for someone else.

When she brought up his sister but didn't change her mind and decline his offer he smiled broadly, glad that she was still coming over. His light blue eyes looked at her as he crossed his arms over his chest as well. He nodded in reply to her question.
"Yes I do but she won't mind if you're there. She is usually out late with her boyfriend anyways." he answered, shrugging it off. Most big brothers would probably not be okay with their little sister being out with her boyfriend late but he was a cool big brother and he had made it clear to the kid she was dating that if he messed with his sister or did anything to her then Chance would kick his ass so he wasn't too worried.
"So is that a yes?" he asked, leaning back a bit as he raised his eyebrows, double checking that she was still coming over for sure.

Abby laughed lightly as he mocked her by imitating her when he crossed his arms over his head like she had. She then smirked at dropped her hands down and placed one in her front pocket and the other dangling by her side. She nodded when he said that his sister was probably going to be out late with her boyfriend, which meant that the house would be theirs for the night.
”Of course I’m coming!” she exclaied with a smile on her face. She always had fun hanging out with Chance, and it wasn’t like she had anything better to do, since she didn’t have any places anyways. Abby put her and through her hair and ruffled it and then combed it with the tips of her fingers and she waited for him to reply. The sun flickered off her blue eyes as she looked at him.
