The sun shone through curtains of the beach themed bedroom. Underneath the covers on the king sized bed was a blonde girl, whom was spread out diagonally, taking up every inch of the bed. ”Mmrrmm,” she groaned, feeling the sunlight hit the bed. She poked her head out from underneath the turquoise duvet, and looked around. Everything looked like a blur, since she was squinting her eyes and not very awake.
The sound of an alarm clock went off with a beeping noise. She wished she brought her ihome, though she didn’t. She normally woke up to sound of Adele or Lady Gaga, but not this morning. The girl sat up a little bit, and stretched her legs and arms. She reached up to the ceiling while simultaneously pointing her toes to stretch her legs. It seemed like a nice day so far, in a new city, in a stranger’s house.
Well, it wasn’t necessarily a stranger, as it was her half brother. By “it” she meant Chance of course, whom, apparently was an A-list actor. She had seen his movies, but never put the pieces together to figure he was her step-brother. It was her first morning waking up in the Caine’s home, so she was unsure what to do. Was she aloud to walk downstairs and make her own breakfast? On the other hand, she had no idea where they kept the bread and butter. She was picky about her food, though she shouldn’t be when she was pretty much being saved by Chance. For taking her in, that is.
Slowly but surely she crawled out of bed; showing off her pajamas. She wore pajama shorts, which were pink with navy blue polka dots on it and a navy blue tank top. She ambled over to the closet to find her slippers. She grabbed her Fuggs off the shelf, and a robe from the hook on the wall. She was nice and cozy, but felt like she was a prisoner, since she didn’t know if she could leave or not. For all she knew the party could still be going on. Facing the mirror the girl, Alexandria, took a look at her golden locks of curls and piled it on top of her head, and into a troll bun. She still had makeup on her face, and didn’t feel like fixing it. All she wanted to do was eat.

Chance yawned as he rolled out of bed. The party had been last night and he hadn't gone to sleep till it was rather late. The sun was streaming through his curtains and he wished he would have remembered to close them all the way instead of just leaving them open like he had them during the night. Luckily he had slipped the maids a little bonus so that they would help him clean up the party so the house was now clean from last night. It hadn't taken that long to clean up which was good because Chance hated cleaning up things.
After climbing out of bed he grabbed a plain white undershirt out of his walk in closet before pulling it on. He already wore a pair of boxers but he pulled on a pair of black sweatpants as well, remembering that he had a new half sister around now and couldn't walk around the house half naked anymore. He would definitely miss that.
As he headed out of his bedroom and down the hall towards the bedroom at the end where she had taken as her own he stopped outside of it, unsure if she was awake or not. He stood outside the door for a moment before he finally knocked softly on the door.
"Hey Alexa, you awake? Wanna come down for breakfast?" he called, tilting his head towards the door so he could hear her response.

Alexandria was startled by the knock on the door, as she thought it was the maid or something; though it wasn’t a hotel. She quickly looked down at her pajamas, and thanked herself for not wearing her Hello Kitty flannel pants. ”Decent,” she called, if case he wanted to come in. Quickly she ran to the mirror to check on her hair, and put it back down. ”Breakfast sounds great,” she said, loud enough for him to hear through the door. She desperately wanted to change her clothes, yet she knew she didn’t have enough time. Alex wanted to wear her blue patterned skirt with a white blouse tucked in with pair of brown heels, but she would need to do that after breakfast. She wondered if he was dressed, like out of his pajamas, but she wouldn’t know unless he opened the door.

Chance heard her call that she was decent and he grabbed the doorknob and slowly turned it, unsure if he should open the door or just head downstairs. Finally he opened it before taking a small step into the room, his hand still on the doorknob as he glanced over at where she stood in her pajamas.
"Alright, I'll meet you downstairs then?" he replied, tilting his head a bit as he waited to see what her response would be. He had given the maids the morning off because they had been there late helping him clean up the house so they would be on their own for breakfast.
He turned and headed out of the room once more, closing the door behind him before he headed down the stairs. When he got to the kitchen he went to the freezer and pulled out a toaster strudel which were his favorite thing to have for breakfast. Popping it into the toaster quickly he went to the fridge and pulled out the gallon of chocolate milk before pouring himself a glass and leaning against the counter as he waited for his breakfast to finish cooking.

Alexa stood, in her pajamas, as Chance got over his tentativeness as opened the door. ”Sounds like a plan,” she nodded as he left the room and closed the door behind him. Once she knew he was gone, Alexandria began to undress, and put on her outfit. She slipped the blouse over hear as she unbuttoned some of the unnecessary buttons. It was a simple blouse, but it didn’t take away from the rest of the outfit, like her skirt. The skirt brushed against her legs as she slid it on, and then tucked her blouse into it. The skirt had a blue bonnet pattern on it, and reminded her of home. As she stood in front of the mirror, Alex checked herself out. Next she placed two tall dark-tan boots to complete her look. She smile and nodded her head and she turned on her heels. Turning the knob on the door she slipped out, turned off the light, and closed the door. When she arrived downstairs she saw chance, fixing up a toaster stroodle. Alex didn’t know where to start. She didn’t want to be annoying and ask for Cocoa Puffs, but she didn’t know where any of the other food was. She didn’t particularly like toaster stroodle. Finally she gathered up her words and spoke: ”Uh, do you have any Cocoa Puffs, or toast. Either if fine,” she asked, feeling like a kid to asked for Cocoa Puffs. Toast was good as well, as long as it was on sourdough bread. She was a picky eater, which wasn’t good at a time like this. [/center]

Chance saw her come downstairs as he was getting ready to pull his toaster strudels out of the toaster. He smiled at her and when she asked for Coco Puffs or toast he went over to the cabinet that held both the cereal and the bread and opened it up. There were quite a few different kinds of cereal, including Coco Puffs. And on the shelf above was an array of kinds of breads as well. He made a sweeping motion with his arms playfully before stepping out of the way so she could get what she wanted.
"Coco Puffs and bread are all right there. Bowls and silverware are over there. Feel free to dig through all the cabinets, make yourself at home." he replied with a smile as he pointed to another drawer and cabinet. The sound of the toaster popping up brought his attention to his breakfast as he went over to it and pulled out the toaster strudels before tossing them onto his plate and spread the frosting on them into some random design he did every time to make sure that the whole thing was covered. When his breakfast was ready he went back over to the island and pulled out a tall stool before sitting on it and beginning to eat his breakfast. His light blue eyes glanced up at her every so often to make sure she was doing okay. He wanted her to feel at home here and he hoped she would be able to.

Alexandria’s eyes followed Chance as he opened two cabinets. He eyes glimmered as she found the Cocoa Puffs, and her mouth started to water a bit. She couldn’t help it, they were just so good. She walked over the cabinet, and pulled the Cocoa Puffs out. She shook the box; to see how much was left in there. A smile came on her face, as she succinctly smelled the Cocoa Puffs. (Not that she put box to her nose).
Next Alex went to where it finger once pointed, where the silverware and bowls were. She opened just the cabinet, and grabbed a bowl, but not without the help of going on her tippy toes. She pulled out the drawer, and grabbed a spoon and placed it next to the bowl. Alex walked around the island to the refrigerator and opened it. There was a superior amount of food stocked in there, which took her a while to find the milk; hidden behind the orange juice. She retraced her steps, back around the island to the Cocoa Puffs, bowl, and spoon.
First she poured a good amount of Cocoa Puffs in the bowl, and next, the milk. Alexa placed the spoon in with the compound mixture and stirred it around until it made a brown-ish color, and tasted like chocolate milk. ”Thanks,” Alex finally said as she went around the island and sat next to him. ”So; are you working today?” she asked, trying to make conversation. She took a big bite of her Cocoa Puffs and smiled. Nothing competed with the simplicity of Cocoa Puffs.

Chance's light blue eyes followed her around the kitchen as she went from the island to the cabinet to the fridge and then back to the island. When she had finally finished getting her breakfast ready he had already eaten one of his toaster strudels and drank half of his chocolate milk. A smile was on his face as she sat next to him and when she asked him if he had to work that day he shook his head.
"Nah, I make a point to avoid working the day after a big party. I'm never quite at the top of my game after a party." he answered, a slight chuckle in his voice as he spoke. He remembered when he had tried to film the day after one of his big parties. Only that party hadn't been as fancy as this last one had been. That one had been more like a high school or college party with people getting drunk, the house being a tad damaged and lots of people passed out throughout the house.
"What about you? Got any plans for the day?" he asked, though he wasn't sure what he was doing later it might be nice if they had the day to get to know each other a little bit, maybe hang out some. He had always wanted a sibling and he wished there wouldn't be that weird and awkward transition stage for them. He wished they had known each other all their lives so they could act like normal siblings. He had always been wanting to try some pranks on a sibling.

”Plans?” she laughed. She couldn’t help herself, but what was one to do when they didn’t have any money. ”Well, I currently don’t have much money, not until the will is settled, and I’ve never been to the west coast,” she sighed, remembering all her friends telling her stories about Disneyland and such. She always wanted to go to Los Angeles and such, but it was always merely a dream.
Going back to his words, she finally replied. ”Makes sense, always want you’re a-game,” she said with a light giggle. She wasn’t’ much of a partier, so nothing ever really happened to her. She would have a drink or two, but nothing more. Alexa didn’t appreciate the taste of beer, so she stuck with wine and Kahula, (on the rocks.) Vodka wasn’t her forte either, too strong.
Alexandria took another bit of her cereal as she stirred it some more, putting the soggier ones on top, and the dry ones in with the milk. She was still getting the whole “sibling” thing into place. She was always an only child, the one people wanted to be since she could “get anything she wanted”. It was never that way though, it was just a mere stereotype. Chance seemed chill, and at least not an egomaniac from what she could tell. A brother, most people complained, but she was happy. Someone who could give her advice on what guys look for in a girl in such. Someone she could complain about her parents, or their parents, to. A family member.

Chance chuckled at her response and he finished the rest of his breakfast before getting up from his chair and heading over to the trash to throw his paper plate away. Returning to his seat he picked up his chocolate milk glass before chugging the rest of the liquid and then placing the cup in the dishwasher. Closing the dishwasher door he rested his elbows on top of the counter before looking across the island at where she still sit, eating her cereal.
"Well don't worry about money, our father has plenty and I have a black American Express card with no limit that's linked to his spending bank account. So let me know if you need anything. As far as today's plans go, how would you like to hang around here with your older brother?" He asked her, a broad grin on his face as he looked over at her. His light blue eyes shone and he leaned on the counter as he waited for her reply. He really wanted to get to know her. After all, weren't siblings suppose to know everything there was to know about each other? If so they had a lot of catching up to do.

”I couldn’t think of anything better,” she somewhat squealed. A brother-sister bonding day, it sounded perfect. Most brothers and sisters would probably hate it, but she was all for it. Getting to know a brother after eighteen years was a big deal, and they probably needed more than a day to catch up on everything. ”Where would we go? Stay here?” she asked. Anything sounded good, as she had never been to California before. The beach, Mel Rose, anything.
Alexa scooped up the last spoonfuls of her Cocoa Puffs and she slid it to the other side of the counter and then ambled over to opposing side of the island. There she gathered the bowl and dumped out the remands of the milk down the drain. She loaded the bowl and spoon into the dishwasher as she closed it afterwards. She looked next to her brother, Chance, and smiled. Finally someone she could tattle on, yell at, and everything stereotypical of sibling. Everything she wanted. After all, eighteen years of catching up to do may lead up to some of that.

Chance grinned when she agreed to spend the day with him. He stood up straight and clapped his hands together once before walking backwards towards the living room. From the living room there was a door out to the back porch that was rather large. And down a couple of stairs led to the pool that was surrounded by lounge chairs. Chance glanced outside for a moment before deciding it would be cooler inside in the air conditioning. Sitting down on the comfy couches that sat in the living room he patted the spot beside him, gesturing for her to sit beside him.
"We can just chill here. How about you can ask me any question about anything that you might have and I will answer it and then I get to ask you one and so on. Help us get to know each other a bit." he replied, a smile still on his face as he got comfortable on the couch. He wasn't sure what to ask her but there wasn't much he knew about her yet so he couldn't really go wrong with any question.

Alex was sheepish to follow him, though her feet started to move like she was a marinate puppet. Step by step she grew closer to the living room and by sitting by him. Alexandria moved around the furniture, such as the coffee table and the autumn. Finally she found herself taking a seat next to him, keeping her arms by her side. She didn’t know why she felt so uneasy, as he was just her brother.
Alexa nodded her head to his idea. In fact, it was a splendid idea. ”Sounds good,” she said, with a smile plastered on her face. ”Hmm,,” Alex pondered, as she didn’t know what to ask first. ”What is m-our father like?” she asked, correcting herself. She barely saw their dad, so she wanted to know what he was like. Business man? Loving? Fatherly? She wanted to know everything, since he /was/ her had after all.
Crossing her legs, Alex placed her hand around her knee. She still had a smile on her face, as she was happy to learn about her family’s past. She only knew her grandparents on her mother’s side, but she had no aunts or uncles, as he mom was an only child. (Like she though for eighteen years).

Chance sighed loudly as he looked up at the ceiling, his light blue eyes gazing off as he thought over what his father had done for him over the years. A sort of distant look crossed his face as memories of how their family use to be normal and happy when his mother had been alive. And then when his mother had died his father had become extremely distant and put all of his time and energy into his business, leaving Chance alone to do as he wished.
Finally after a long moment of thinking he turned to look at Alexa again, his head tilted a bit as he put his hand on his chin, trying to decide if he should tell her the truth about their father or to try and sweeten it a bit.
"Well long story short, our dad was a great dad and was home all the time with me and my mother. He came to all of my pop warner football games and we would always go out to get ice cream afterwards whenever we won and even sometimes when we didn't win. He would throw the football with me in the yard and him and my mother were madly in love, at least I thought they were. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer it really hit him hard and when she finally passed away when I was seven a part of him died along with her I think. . . He became more distant, didn't come home as much. . . Got me a nanny to stay home with me until I was old enough to stay home by myself. And when my career really started picking up he just stopped coming home almost all together. Now it is rare for him to be home once a month. He has an apartment in New York where he spends most of his time so he can keep a closer eye on his business. He use to be the dad any kid would dream of having. . . but now. . . he's not much of a dad at all." Chance explained, turning the long story that he had tried to shorten up into a still pretty long story.
His light blue eyes gazed down at his lap for a moment before staring off into space, as if he would find the answers he was looking for there though he didn't even know what questions he was trying to answer. Finally he pulled his attention back to the present and looked over at her, giving a small smile before waiting to see what she would say. He felt bad for her because she had never had a father, and now she was stuck with a shitty father. She would never know what it was like to have a decent father at least once in her life. And even though his father was pretty absent now, at least he had been there in the beginning.

Alexandria uncrossed her legs and then re-crossed them, but his time it was her feet. Ankle over ankle; apparently it was more ladylike. Though who cared about ladylike when people are with family? Wasn’t it the time to belch and do things you would never do with anyone besides family. In this case, it was a serious matter of parents and parenting.
As she listened to the rather long summary of their dad, she tried to keep her head high. He seemed like a good dad, at the start. But as Chance trailed on about Christopher Caine, he seemed like a workaholic father. One who only cared about making money; money first, family last; so it seemed. She wished she could have seen him a lot more when she was younger, though that was the past and she couldn’t change it.
Alex didn’t really know what to say. “I’m sorry he was a crappy father?” it sounded horrid. Beyond horrid. ”Sounds, complex,” was all she could think of. It sounded shitty when she said it out loud. ”I wish I could have seen him more,” she added to it. He was a better dad than some, and at least she had (part) of a dad. Well, he was only “part” of her dad since she rarely saw him on special occasions. ”You’re turn,” she muttered. Alex soaked in everything he told her about their father and kept it in her head. Rather, she should have placed it in her heart. Hopefully she would get to see him, if, he ever came to his ‘real’ home.
Alex placed her hands hands on her lap as she tilted her head to the back, so it touched the back of the couch. She looked to the ceiling for a split second; mostly to streatch her neck.
