Dallas slipped into a chair across from Bella at one of the small, little tables gathered in front of the stage. They sat a little ways back, so they could talk without interrupting any of the authors doing recitations. "Hey now, were not strangers anymore! This is our second meeting, I mean were practically like family by now." Dall said, passing Bella a playful smile. He was glad that she, too, had brought her notebooks. After a slow sip of his burning coffee, he too took out his adored Tibaldi pen and his simple notebook.
At the mention of The Phoenix and the Turtle Dallas smiled, he loved Shakespeare, for some reason. Typically he wasn't a fan of romance, but Shakespeare was so eloquent and real, he didn't pretty things up for the readers sake. "I've analyzed this poem before, actually. The Phoenix and the Turtle is known as being Shakespeare's most controversial work- there are so many different interpretations of the piece, really. None more correct then the last. I love when literature has more than one meaning, it keeps things interesting." Dallas finished, noticing he was rambling a bit.
He blew on the edge of his coffee cup to cool down the contents just bit, before taking a long swig. He opened to a blank page in his notebook, preferring to have a clean space to write his thoughts. They say you get something new out of a written work every time you read through it, and Dallas for one believed this to be true.

"I think you know almost every single piece of literature. Definitely so...• Isabella picked up her cup and put the lid to her lips as the foam came into her mouth and down her throat. It was nice to relax and sit with someone. "It's really nice to talk to you like this because my best friend Callie doesn't really appreciate literature as much as I do." As she watched him take out his notebook.
"You are definitely right on the controversial part but it's hard to say what really is the poem? Can we not agree that he or she is showing emotions, proclaiming them? Sometimes I feel we get too overhead of ourselves and we all seriously need to take a breather and open a new book." As she rummaged around in her purse for a mint.
"I mean, really barely anybody buys paper or hardback copies of books because if iBooks and Kindles. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing inventions... It just takes away the true meaning of a book."

Dallas didn't even think it would be possible for his mouth to drop any wider. As usual, he blurted out the first thing he felt, saying "Don't get me wrong, but your kind of perfect." Instantly, his cheeks turned a little red, but he didn't get to embarrassed. He was use to making an ass out of himself. "Let me clarify..." he continued "What I MEANT to say was I completely agree with you. Technology is overrated when it comes to literature. I mean, I know you can find books by classic artists by using Nook's and stuff like that, but doesn't it just seem like ANYONE can type up words on a computer? It takes a special kind of person to write a book."
He took another slow sip of his coffee, savoring the creamy hazelnut flavor. "And as for Poe, defiantly and expression of emotion. Love and the sorrow of mourning death, you know? But what I really love are the references to the Phoenix and the Turtle Dove. All about being born anew, and love, of course." Dallas smiled, looking at Bella. He was truly enjoying himself, he honestly didn't have any other friends that enjoyed a good book like himself either...wait a minute...
"Wait, did you just say Callie? As in Callie Rae?" Dallas asked, looking at Bella a little quizzically.

"Me, perfect? That is very kind of you to say because I was going to say the same thing about you." As she finished her coffee and set the empty cup down on the table. Another author had taken place on stage and he seemed to be holding the attention of the audience really well.
"Yeah, Callie Rae. Do you know her?" She asked as she was really wondering if he did or there so happened to be another Callie wandering around in LA. "Well you must, to know her last name. Callie is a character, my best friend." Bella smiled as she got out her camera and went to a photo of Callie. "Is that her?" She asked.

Dallas took a moment to listen to the author on stage. Though his words were sometimes confusing to follow, he had an amazing stage presence and was captivating the audience with his story. However, his attention could not stray long from the far more interesting girl in front of him. Again getting a bit red when she made the comment, he smiled softly at her. "I'm glad you think so, that makes two. You, and Bailey." He laughed, mentioning his loyal retriever.
Blowing a bit on the edge of his coffee cup, he listened to Bella talk about Callie. She leaned forward across the table a little to show him a picture, so he leaned even further in. Taking in her wonderful, light smell, and relishing in the closeness of her for maybe just a second to long, he nodded. "Yup, that's Callie. It probably would have helped if I'd said Callie McCarthy instead, sorry about that." Dallas said, feeling much less nervous and more relaxed now. For some reason, though he was typically always nervous around girls, she had a way of making him feel comfortable and at ease.

"You should definitely keep that dog away from me, I am madly in love with him. Sometime I wanna take him out for a run or something. Gosh, I love running. Running, reading, coffee basically. That is my life in a nutshell with a hint of surfing from Callie." Bella laughed, she had this 'obnoxious' laugh people said but she actually truly thought her laugh was genuine and not forced like other people. "No, I completely understood you. I call her Callie Rae when Im trying to get her attention. McCarthy doesnt really suit her... too formal for a bubbly personality like hers." Isabella turned around quick to see the author on stage as she listened to a fragment of their sentence.
"I dont know if you agree but seriously, there is this tingling sensation when I am around you. You must carry a positive aura because I am super happy right now." As she asked for another refill on her coffee as she repeated the order. "Im sorry I have to go soon but maybe tomorrow we could go for a run. I dont have to leave for another twenty minutes but its always good to make future plans right?" She asked with a smile.

Dallas felt incredibly happy to hear her open up to him a little bit, and even more excited as he found yet another thing they had in common. "Running is one of my favorite hobbies, especially when Bailey tags along for company." He loved her laugh, it was the cutest thing. So maybe it was a bit loud, she sound genuinely pleased, and just being around her made him feel happy. "And as for surfing, I'm not much one for that. Callie's tried to get me, and so has my cousin Kyle, but...I don't know. I guess you could say it's just not my thing." He didn't want to mention just yet that he had a fear of drowning.
When she continued, he found himself smiling yet again. "I think I know what you mean. So far every second that I've been around you, I feel myself getting happier and happier. I don't know if that sounds lame." He paused for a second, and jotted down something in illegible in his notebook. "And a run tomorrow sounds perfect, by the way. A run with you sounds perfect, at least." He said, not being able to help blurting out his first though. Wow, he certainly wasn't the smoothest.

Dallas had agreed to go on a run with her and she was pleased he had accepted her invitation. "Great, uhm... Here." As Bella took a piece of paper and wrote Isabella and her telephone number on it, sliding it along the table to him.
"Lame? No. Kind? Too kind." As she rose from her seat, adjusting her denim shirt. "Well Dallas I look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning here, 7:30 don't be late." As she leaned in to give him a quick peck on the cheek as she pushed open the door and entered the night of the city.
Ooc: Skip to next day?

ooc: perfect! I'll start from the next morning.
Dallas woke up at 6:30 that morning, jumping in the shower quickly. After he'd toweled off, and applied some seriously sweat resistant deodorant, he put on a dark green green running shirt that had the sleeves torn off. Sleeves were just too much of a hassle when you were running and sweaty. He slid on a normal pair of black basketball shorts, and his favorite sneakers- a green and black pair of Complete Nightfox TR Running Shoes. He sat down to his breakfast bar and whipped out his phone, texting Isabella quickly. 'Can't wake the dog up, so it looks like it's just you and me today.'
It was true, sometimes Bailey just tended to sleep like a rock. He tried calling to her, filling up her food bowl, and even stomping around him loudly, but the dog was just plain stubborn. He grabbed his aviators and headed out to the bright, morning sunshine. He'd left just a few minutes early, so he could swing into Starbucks and get a Naked 'Green Machine' drink. It looked weird, green and mushy and kind of how you would imagine ground up broccoli to look like, but it actually tasted amazing. It filled his mouth with the taste of apples, pineapples, kiwis, and bananas. He stepped outside the door, and waited for Bell to show up. It was 7:25, so he knew she would be here soon.

Isabella was talking to a kind, elderly lady as she helped her carry her heavy grocery bags. The morning was hot as Bella dropped the bags at the elderly woman's front door to what seemed like a flat. The woman gave Isabella a hug and said she didn't need anymore help.
Wearing a pair of Nike spandex black shorts and a bright pink racerback shirt with her pair of Nikes on her feet she jogged over to Starbucks to see Dallas. Lifting her sunglasses from her eyes she waved to him before approaching him. "Sorry I'm late." As she gave him a smile.
"You should finish that drink so we can start heading out, I say about 5 miles?" She asked as she pulled out her iPod and wrapped the earbud cord around her neck as she strapped the iPod into her arm band. "Ready? Let's go!" As she began to jog off.

Quickly, he chugged the remains of his drink and tossed it in the recycle bin in front of the Starbucks. As she took of ahead of him, he popped the skull candy headphones to his black i Pod nano touch in his ears, his iPod already clipped securely to the edge of his shorts. He turned the music down a lot, so that he could still carry out a conversation. Smiling in her direction, "So weere going easy today?" he joked as he took off and jogged along side her.
It was nice to have a running partner, for once. The steady sound of her breathing made him feel less aware of the world around him, and more focused on just the two of them enjoying a good job. Smiling, Dallas turned to Bella, still able to talk without panting or anything, and said "It's good to see you again. I was sort of thinking about you. Not in a creepy way or anything, but I was reading a Charles Dickens novel and I came across an interesting passage. 'Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.'. Don't you think it's a little ridiculous to say you have to have a heart that never hardens to fall in love? I mean...isn't that just opening yourself up a little to get hurt a lot." Dallas pondered. Even as he said the words, he slowly felt his heart melting. He was already opening up to her in way's he hadn't to most.

Isabella listened as they jogged, with one ear bud in and the other out to make sure she could hear him clearly. He mentioned Charles Dickens and then the famous quote that was recognized around the world by thousands of people. ”Ridiculous, no. Having a heart that never hardens. I truly believe your heart can only harden when you’ve been left heartbroken. Other than that, I believe the heart is soft and warm… at least mine is. I always open my heart to the unknown and to people who want me in their life.” She stopped talking as she jogged a few paces before speaking again. ”It is scary and hard to open your heart to random people but, one who risks nothing, has nothing, is nothing.”
She stopped jogging and reached down to touch her toes really quickly. ”Lactic acid…” She said with a smile as she came up. ”I was thinking about you too if that makes you feel less awkward.” She rolled her neck. ”Honestly, you have to stop calling yourself creepy or awkward or weird because right now in my opinion, the last thing you are is weird.” As she began to take off again, they had probably ran about 2 miles so far. Time was flying back as he was a really good endurance runner and it was nice to have someone to try and match pace with as she was usually really lazy when it came to running.
Jogging in silence for some time they reached a massive sand bar. ”I wanna see this.” As she stood up on top of the sandbar, the ocean below. She looked over at Dallas who looked a little disorientated. ”You’re afraid of the ocean, I can sense it.” As she walked back to the beginning of the sandbar to reach down and take his hand. ”Come on Mr. De’Luca, we’re about to conquer this fear.” As she walked backwards as she guided him along the sandbar till they were at the end. ”What can be more beautiful than an ocean?” She asked.

Dallas took in her words, drinking them up like he would with one of his favorite coffee drinks, letting her words settle into him like warm blanket for his insides. She was right, honestly. He had no reason to let his heart harden, especially when he was around a girl who seemed to make all his doubts fly away whenever she was around. They continues running in silence for a little while, before coming up to a lovely sandbar, It looked gorgeous, but he instantly felt uneasy near the waves of rushing water.
"I wouldn't say it's a fear of the ocean," Dallas began, "more like a fear of the waves puling me under, to the point where you can't see the sun anymore shining through the surface. I'm afraid of drowning, I guess." He finished. She had guided him to the end of the sandbar, and his toes were so close to the edge of the water that he could feel the temperature change in the water.
"I can think of at least one thing that's more beautiful than the ocean." Dallas practically whispered, as he looked Bella up and down and took the sight of her in. She really was beautiful, perfect really. Inhaling deeply, Dallas though about Bella and the task in front of him. Callie was pretty persuasive, and so far she hadn't even gotten him further than waste deep in the ocean. But this was different, Bella was different. She made him want to do things he would normally hesitate on, she made him want to conquer his fears for her.

Bella was surprised at his honesty about the waves. ”Think of it as this… the waves, wrapping you in their arms as they embrace you and as you enter their love you see their world. The green seaweed, the colorful fish, the rushing of the water.” Bella reached for his hand, ”If you choose not to fight against the water, it’s just like human touch.” As she squeezed his hand.
”Well then, we should definitely continue on our run.” As she released his hand and walked back the opposite direction of the sandbar, arms out as she was balancing on the tight strip of oceanic land. ”We have three more miles, how about we just have a play date in the sand?” She asked as she took off her sneakers and socks and gripped her toes in the sand.

Dallas loved the feeling of her hand on his, even if it was only for a small, fleeting moment. Slowly, he followed her and slid off his sneakers and socks. He loved the feeling of the sand between his toes, and for a split second, he even completely immersed his feet in the sand. Pulling them out, he shook some of the sand off and made his way closer to Isabella, who was balancing carefully on a strip of sand.
"I think a play date sounds perfect. I 'm in love with the sand. Don't you just love the warm feeling? It's almost like a hot blanket, wrapping around your feet and keeping them all snug. I know I probably sound like an idiot. " Dallas paused for a second to look up at Bella, she looked wonderful- her hair was blowing gently in the breeze, arms outstretched just a little as if she was open to the beauty of the whole world around her.
He got a little closer to her, and touched her arm, ever so gently, before quickly snapping his hand back and placing it on his side. "It's a funny story, really. Never once have I ever almost drowned, or seen someone drown, or lost a close family member to the ocean. I mean, I've never even really choked on water, at least that I can remember. I don't know why I'm so afraid of the ocean, when it truly is beautiful. I guess I'm afraid of being swallowed up by all it's mystery, never to be heard from again." Dallas chuckled a little, laughing as his fear of drowning which he found eerily similar to his fear of love. He wanted it so badly, but was afraid he'd lose himself, and have his heart broken.
