Clammy hands, jittery legs, and sweating were all signs that Riley was nervous. He had been feeling sick to his stomach all day, as it was once big step for him. He had been in his apartment for a good chunk of the day, planning things and making sure everything was ready for smooth sailing. Riley’s leg would not stop shaking like a twitch or something because he was overly anxious. Today was perhaps one of the most important days in his life.
Wearing a nice black sports jacket, Rye slowly took it off and set it in the booth of the seat of the reserved table for Maddee and him. He wore a simple button up shirt with a tie and trousers, along with some nice dress shoes for the occasion. He had planned to meet Maddee there, and he had an excuse that he was already downtown, so it would be easier to meet her there, when in reality he was making sure everything was perfect for their special evening.
The restaurant smelled of tofu and miso soup, as they were to dine at one of the most recommended Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles. The restaurant, besides just being nice and having good food, was a place both Riley and Maddee enjoyed. When they first met in Portland, Oregon, during the summer they had taken a quick trip to LA where they dined at the current restaurant, so it had a lot of meaning.
Riley stood by the table, rubbing his hands together and waiting for Maddee to enter. Everything was in place, and all he needed was her to be there with him.

Maddee walked along the streets of L.A. looking around for the restaurant she was meeting her lovely boyfriend at. She was wearing a beautiful low cut yellow dress and black pumps, Rye had told her it was a nice restaurant so she decided that it would be appropriate to dress up a bit. Her heels clicked violently as she walked still looking around for the restaurant.
When she finally found it, she opened her purse and grabbed a mirror applying a thin layer of lip gloss before going in. She wanted to look perfect for him, she wanted tonight to go well. She smiled and then shut it, tucking a loose hair behind her ear. She walked in and spoke to the hostess, saying how she was meeting her boyfriend. She followed her back to the restaurant where Rye was sitting.
Butterflies filled her stomach as she approached, "Rye." she smiled walking closer to him. She kissed him softly as she slid into the seat across from him. He looked amazing, as always. He never had to try to look stunning, he was just naturally good at it. She blushed a bit at him and looked into his eyes. "How are you doing?" she asked him, squeezing his hand lightly.

Rehearsing things in his head, Rye saw Maddee approaching with the hostess as he smiled. ”Hey babe,” he greeted with a kiss and then slid into the seat across from Maddee. She looked gorgeous in every way, as he gazed at her. His hand was placed on the table when she squeezed it, and he smiled. ”I’m awesome now that you’re here. You look absolutely amazing,” he complimented. From a stylists point of view her yellow dress went perfectly with her olive scheme skin tone, but from Rye’s point of view the dress fit like a glove and was made for her.
The waiter came over with a drink menu and the regular menu, explaining the specials which were duck and a stir-fry with chicken. The duck did not sound appealing, but he liked stir-fry. Riley got nervous just looking at Maddee, wondering how he had gotten so lucky to date such a pretty woman. She was a gem and shined, and being with her made him want to be a better person, even though he never thought of himself as a bad person. He wanted to spend every waking second with her, if even possible, because he really did love her.

Maddee blushed a bit. "You're too kind." she looked into his eyes and smiled a bit. She looked at the waiter and looked at the menu. She half listened as he spoke about the specials and made a sort of face when he said 'duck'. She thought the stir-fry sounded good, but there was a lot to pick from.
She looked up at him and tilted her head a bit. "What would you like to drink?" she asked looking down at the drink menu, then looking back at him. It didn't really matter for her, she wasn't picky when it came to that minor of details. She didn't really care if they had alcoholic beverages or non. She was more of a people pleaser than a self pleaser. She couldn't keep her eyes off of Rye, he just looked so amazing. It was weird, he had a sort of glow to him tonight. He looked happy, but had a hint of nervousness in his eyes.

When the waiter returned and Maddee asked Riley what he wanted to drink he told the waiter to get them the house wine. ”Are you okay with that?” he asked Maddee, whom was still nineteen, but could easily pass for twenty one, and the waiters weren’t going to ticket her tonight since Riley had called ahead and arranged a few things.
The waiter emerged with the wine and two fortune cookies, one with an engagement ring for Maddee in it, and one regular one for Riley. He wasn’t sure if he was to let her open it first and then pop the question, or let her see it first and then ask, but he went with the second option. Rye looked at the waiter and then the cookie to signal to give Maddee the one on the left. He then took the other one and a glass of wine and slowly sipped it to calm his nerves. He opened the cookie and read his fortune with a cheesy motto and then ate it. The waiter left again so Rye and Maddee could have a special moment when she opened her fortune cookie. Riley waited for her to open it, trying to not look to anxious.

Maddee nodded in agreement as he looked at her, asking if it was okay for him to order the house wine. She smiled as she brought her gaze down, looking at her fingers. She waited for the waiter to come back with the wine. "This place is really nice." she said looking around. She wasn't used to overly fancy restaurants.
When the waiter came back, she smiled at him and watched as he poured the wine. She took a sip and smiled, she loved wine. Although she was a minor, no one ever asked for an I.D. from her, she looked much older than nineteen. She watched as Rye opened his fortune cookie, she grabbed hers and waited for him to eat his. "I love fortune cookies!" she said beginning to crack hers open. As she did, she felt something inside that was definitely not a piece of paper.
It was a ring. Maddee's eyes widened as she grabbed it and dusted the crumbs off of it. She looked up at Rye, shock on her face. She felt the tears well up behind her eyes as she looked into his, smiling. She couldn't find the words to say to him, she was speechless.

Riley watched Maddee, trying to hide his anxiety. He kept leaning in bit by bit so he could see her open it. When she did, he loved how her facial expression was: priceless. He took a small sip of wine and let it slide down this throat and then gulped. He smiled, looking at her eyes gleam with warm tears and he slowly got up and waked beside her chair. The waiters gathered around him, about twenty feet back, hovering from there. He slowly got down on one knee and looked into Madison’s and smiled. Slowly he grabbed the ring from her and held it in his hand. It was a Tiffany gold ring with a rather large, clean cut diamond.
”Madison,” he began, quivering with nerves. ”I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. When we met, I knew there was something special about you, and I can still picture the first time I saw you. I was just as nervous as I am now, and I didn’t think that you would give me the time of day, but you did, and look at me know. I can’t imagine being with anyone but you. I know we’re a bit young, but we’re in love and I don’t want anything to stop us. So, Madison Jean Owens will you please marry me?” he asked with a broad smile, still on one knee.

Maddee laughed a bit as he walked over to her side, her tears now rolling down her face. She couldn't stop smiling. As he spoke his words, she kept the gaze in his eyes. "Of course I will!" she waited for him to put the ring on her finger and kissed him passionately and wrapped her arms around his neck. She didn't ever want to let go, words couldn't even describe how happy she was. She smiled as everyone was clapping around her, she kissed Rye again.
She smiled and kept her face close to his, "I love you." she whispered as she kissed him once more, a smile still wide on her face.

Riley had the broadest smile on his face, and it wouldn’t go away. Maddee made him feel so special, and being around her made him happy. He slowly slid the ring on her left ring finger and let the light reflect off of it. It was a nice ring after all, and since he was an actor he had enough money to buy her a very nice one. Rye kissed her passionately back and laughed. ”In all the years I never imagined being engaged, but here I am,” he said against her lips, hearing the roar of applause from the people in the restaurant. Even though there were workers and customers in the building, it just seemed like it was him and Maddee; no one else.
”I love you too,” he said, kissing her back. ”Now we get to plan a wedding,” he said, putting his forehead to hers and then kissing her.

Maddee smiled as he said the word wedding. She kissed him back and then looked at him "I can't wait." she already had so many thoughts going through her head about what kind of a wedding she wanted. Small? Big? Simple? Extravagant? She had so many choices. But that was the least of her worries, she looked at Rye and smiled. She was so happy, it was incredible how happy a single person could make her feel.
She kissed him once more and then released from him, sitting back in her chair. She looked at her finger and then back at him. "What kind of wedding do you want?" she asked sipping on her wine some more. She wanted to hear all of his opinions, and she wasn't going to let him say 'whatever you want' because she wanted a wedding that she would like and that he would enjoy. She smiled once more and looked at her ring again, it was beautiful on her finger.

Slowly Riley left Maddee to return to his seat. He smiled at her, and the ring she was enjoying so much. ”Any kind you want,” he said, knowing that she would want a better answer. Rye personally didn’t care, as he just wanted is fiancé to be happy. All he knew was that the paparazzi would be all over the wedding as he was an actor and they liked to know all of his business; wedding included. Riley just wanted to be with Madison, and maybe a wedding on the beach. ”All I have to say is that I don’t want our guests to fly far to another country because of the economy these days. I personally like the idea of a beach wedding, but I just want you to have the wedding of your life,” he smiled. Suddenly, something struck Riley. He had never met Maddee’s parents, only her uncle whom never approved their romance. He kept this to himself, as he never asked permission in Maddee’s hand, which was awful of him.

Maddee smiled as he spoke. "A beach wedding sounds perfect." she agreed with not wanting it to be somewhere outside of Cali. She smiled "I could care less about the details, just as long as im marrying you will make it the best wedding ever." she tried to think of what colors would look good on the beach, she already knew what kind of dress she wanted, she just needed to find a good color scheme. She tapped her fingers and looked at him.
She sighed, "We need to tell our parents about this." she finally remembered. She rolled her eyes a bit, she hadn't talked to her parents since she moved to L.A. I suppose now would be better than never. She wouldn't dare tell them over the phone, so that meant once thing. They were going to have to go visit.

It was like Maddee was reading Riley’s mind, in a good way. ”Well your uncle never seemed to like me much...” Riley said, wondering what Maddee’s parents were like. ”My parents live right outside of L.A. Do your folks still live in Minneapolis, Minnesota? I feel bad I didn’t ask permission but I had never met them…” he explained, trailing off again. He was honestly afraid to see her uncle again, who was a bit strict and if he didn’t like their summer romance he would hate the idea of marriage.
Ooc. Do you want to make a thread with the parents or continue this one?
